Institute of Clinical Psychology (ICP)
The Institute of Clinical Psychology was formally established as part of the NZPsS in 1999. Membership is free (included in your annual NZPsS subscription). The Management Committee is a democratically elected body that meets regularly throughout the year.
Mission
Promoting the highest standards of clinical psychological knowledge and practice within Aotearoa/New Zealand in the interests of the public and the profession.
What we offer our members
- Recognition of one’s status as a clinical psychologist
- Improved networking and lobbying opportunities
- Specialist, targeted services of value to clinical psychologists, such as publications and professional development
- Accountability to the profession with regard to maintenance/upskilling in key areas of clinical practice
- Opportunities to contribute to the success of the Institute by being willing to assume managerial/professional roles within the Institute.

Membership criteria
Full Membership
(a) A current financial Member of NZPsS.
(b) A Psychologist registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board in the Clinical Psychologist Scope, and holds a current Annual Practising Certificate )
Affiliate Membership
(a) Financial Full Member of the NZPsS
(b) Has an interest in Institute business but does not meet the Full membership criteria Rule 5.3 (i) (b). .
Student Membership
(a) Student subscriber/member of the NZPsS
(b) Currently enrolled in a New Zealand clinical training programme.

NZPsS students: If you are an NZPsS student and enrolled in a clinical programme we add you as ICP student automatically- no need to complete another application form. Here is some information specifically for ICP students.
Please note that NZPsS student subscribers can become institute student subscribers only. To become a full member of an institute you need to be a full member of NZPsS first.
