Registering as a Psychologist

Registration as a "Psychologist" in New Zealand is managed by the NZ Psychologists Board. The relevant legislation is the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.

Registered psychologists are required to adhere to the Code of Ethics. This Code was formally adopted in 2002 by the NZ Psychologists Board as the ethical guide for NZ psychologists.

From 1 April, 2009, all actively practising psychologists are required to participate in a continuing competency programme and are required to declare that they have done so when renewing their Annual Practising Certificate.
