The NZPsS offers a professional development programme to assist members to develop their professional skills and knowledge and to fulfill their responsibilities under the Code of Ethics. Professional development opportunities are offered to members at preferential rates and where places are available are open to non-members and the wider community. Calendar of EventsLegal and Ethical Responsibilities of Psychologists as Expert WitnessesPresenters: Kris Gledhill and Nick Wilson The workshop will be part seminar, part applied workshop. The event will cover in detail relevant New Zealand case law and court rules; Presentation and discussion of relevant issues; Discussion of ethical principles in NZ Codes of Ethics with reference to responsibilities as an expert witness. Workshop content will involve practical exercises on the application of this material. Dates and venues: 8th June 2010 Auckland, 10th June 2010 Christchurch, 11th June Wellington For more information email: pd@psychology.org.nz Psychological Therapy in Primary Care and other Health Settings NEW DATESPresented by Professor Robert Bor This workshop will now take place on 18 October in Auckland and on 21 October 2010 in Christchurch The ideas presented in this workshop will focus on skills for working with two main groups of patients: those suffering from a definable medical illness and those who present within health care settings with emotional distress and common psychological problems. The emphasis is on working collaboratively with other health care professionals, using evidence based therapy approaches and within a time limited therapeutic framework.
