NZ PSYCHOLOGICAL SOCIETY MEMBERS' INSURANCE COVER

brain2forweb.jpgAs the insurance brokers to the NZ Psychological Society, Wilkinson Insurance Brokers Ltd have arranged an insurance policy designed to provide you, registered psychologists and financial members of the Society, with insurance protection to meet costs incurred defending yourself against claims (whatever the outcome) and if required, meet the cost of a payout.

In addition, Public Liability Insurance cover is included which provides $1,000,000 (in the aggregate) indemnity for all amounts you become legally liable to pay for compensation in respect of personal injury or property damage that is caused by an occurrence in connection with your business and happens during the period of insurance. The cover is designed to protect you against civil liability arising from the professional services you provide as a psychologist. The policy includes costs in defending and investigating claims or allegations made against individuals and any damages or settlements that result from such claims or allegations. The Medical Malpractice wording includes a number of important automatic extensions.

BENEFITS

  • The Professional Indemnity policy provides you with Retroactive Cover to the date on which you became a member of the Society. This means that if a claim is first made known to you after the time of joining the insurance scheme, and is notified to the insurer before the current years expiry date of the policy, even though the incident may have arisen out of work you did a year or two before, providing it is after you joined the Society, you will have insurance protection.
  • Also an 0800 number to a dedicated medico legal specialist lawyer is available to provide ‘legal first aid' in the event of a claim.
  • EAP Assist Programme.  Additional standard cover has been added to this policy providing cover for insured members to access counselling services from EAP Services to a value of $500.00 for any one claim.
